In many regions of the world, food insecurity is part of everyday life. Economic instability, climate change and uncertain sources of income make regular access to sufficient and balanced nutrition difficult, especially in rural areas. Communities whose livelihoods are particularly vulnerable are the most affected.

The Touba-Mbacké region of Senegal is marked by extreme climatic conditions, recurring floods and strong population growth. Many families live from casual work or subsistence farming and struggle to meet basic needs such as food, education and medical care on a lasting basis.

A personal connection between Aline Studhalter and a family in Touba gave rise to the initiative to support people where the need is most immediate. This personal impulse is the foundation of today’s Manger pour le peuple project.

Through this project, the spirit of Aline’s generosity lives on: connecting people, supporting those most in need and bringing hope where it is needed most.

About the project

Fondation Aline has supported the Manger pour le peuple project since 2023. The initiative is run by a local family who were close to Aline Studhalter and who continue her commitment to solidarity.

Thanks to the ongoing support of Fondation Aline, basic foodstuffs such as rice, vegetables, drinks and beef or camel meat can be purchased every month and prepared on site into nourishing meals. The support ensures that meals are distributed regularly, reliably and with dignity.

The Foundation’s support creates a stable organisational and financial framework and enables the local organisers to focus on implementation and direct contact with the community.
